Call Eiyuden Chronicle: ‘Hundred Heroes’ The successful Kickstarter campaign would be an underrated thing. A spiritual successor to Konami’s award-winning JRPG series SuikodenIt reunites the former’s major developers and was first announced in August. With the goal of raising $ 500,000 in crowdfunding, they completely crushed that goal to reach a staggering $ 4.5 million.
The news has been quiet ever since, but we have now received confirmation that 505 Games will be releasing this expected game in 2022. Confirmed in a new blog post and YouTube video, Yoshitaka Murayama, head of Rabbit & Bear Studios, said:
We have been dreaming for years to develop a game for genre fans that also celebrates everything we love as game designers and what we have learned. Our team looks forward to working with 505 Games to bring Eiyuden Chronicle to as many fans around the world as possible.
Eiyuden Chronicle is a throwback to the classic RPG games that entertained millions, and a modern, exciting story of discovery and adventure with a cast of hundreds of fully realized characters. Given their success and history with titles like Bloodstained and Death Stranding, and with the strong personal relationship we have developed with the people there, we feel we are the perfect partner in 505 Games.
Unfortunately, it is not clear if Eiyuden Chronicle will launch on Switch. Rabbit & Bear earlier expressed their concerns, saying that the version may fall closer to launch due to the age of the Switch and the lower specifications for Nintendo’s next generation hardware. Since Nintendo believes the switch is only halfway through its lifespan, a successor may not even be available by 2022.
Murayama has outlined a familiar situation, which we have seen with other Kickstarter games, so we can understand the hesitation. At least we know Eiyuden Chronicle is coming to a Nintendo console.
