5-year-old girl who was seriously injured in the accident of Britt Reid, coach of the former Chiefs, ‘stays in a coma’, the family says

The five-year-old girl who was injured during an accident in which former Kansas City Chiefs coach Britt Reid “remains in a coma,” her family said Thursday.

The girl, who was identified as Ariel, was one of two children injured in the crash that took place near Arrowhead Stadium last week. The other child did not sustain life-threatening injuries, but Ariel remained in the hospital. A GoFundMe page, set up for the girl to cover medical expenses, raised more than $ 400,000, and this is where the girl’s cousin updated on her condition.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for Ariel and support the family in a time like this. She is in a coma and there are no changes today. I am hopeful that this is the next time it is better news, ‘Tiffany Verhulst wrote on the fundraising page.

Reid, the 35-year-old son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, has been placed with the Chiefs for administrative leave for the duration of his contract, which has expired, and he is no longer an employee of the team, ESPN report.

On Wednesday, the NFL released a statement to FOX4 about the ongoing situation surrounding Reid after he was involved in the multi-car crash near Arrowhead Stadium on February 4.

“We are particularly concerned about the young girl, her family and the others who were injured,” the NFL said. “The matter will be reviewed under the NFL’s policy on personal conduct. We will continue to monitor the developments and once law enforcement has completed the investigation, we will address this issue and take any appropriate action.”

BRITT NO LONGER DECIDE WITH CHAPTERS AFTER THE CONTRACT HAS BEEN ENDED IN THE MIDDLE OF INVESTIGATION: REPORT

Police received a warrant for Britt Reid’s cellphone on Saturday morning to “help determine if there was any telephone activity before or during the accident, and whether the telephone was subsequently used to discuss the incident with other persons” according to the application to warrant obtained through KSHB-TV.

Britt Reid told responding officers he had two to three drinks and that he was on a prescription from Adderall during the incident, according to FOX4 KC. He also complained of stomach pain and was operated on.

Howard Lotven, a Kansas City attorney, told the station that tests for blood alcohol are being sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Lab and it could take weeks to process.

“It usually takes 4-8 weeks. Only because they test the blood tests from across the state,” Lotven told FOX4 KC.

The accident is still being investigated and Britt Reid is not currently facing charges.

Andy Reid was asked about his son again at his press conference on Monday after the Super Bowl.

“That little girl, my heart goes out to her,” Andy Reid said via KSHB-TV.

He added that his son “is getting better now.”

“I had the chance to talk to him. Again, my heart goes out to the young lady. I’m a dad too, so I get it. I’m obviously worried on both sides,” he said.
