5 Reasons Why Pixel 5 Can Resist Your Expectations [Video]

It’s hard to deny that Google’s Pixel 5 has taken a completely different – and somewhat confusing – path to what we expect given recent “flagships”. At first glance, it looks like a swing and a miss. Sometimes, however, it takes a step back to really see the bigger picture, and by doing so, you can see why Pixel 5 is possible. even challenges the expectations of even the most ardent Android enthusiast.

First, if you simply need to have the booming interior or technology on your device, then you simply will not enjoy the Pixel 5.. Personally, I agree to some extent that the Pixel 5 is nowhere near the ‘peak’ Pixel you can buy. in 2021. The honor still belongs to the Pixel 4 XL, and in some ways, even the Pixel 3 XL, it offers the very newer hardware.

However, a phone is not used on paper and also not raw specifications have an excellent experience. There are many devices out there that you can probably think of. Of course, it is your privilege to give the best money, but the Pixel 5 may exceed your prejudices or expectations, and we have several reasons why.

please note: We will not discuss the camera as it is a bit obvious to do so as the Pixel series still uses the three year old Sony IMX 363 sensor – which still lives up to expectations. So it’s off the table to start.

Long before the launch, there was an expectation that we would see a Pixel 5 XL model, but hopes were dashed because only one size was offered. The Pixel 4a 5G fills in nicely, but is not quite the same as an out-and-out large Pixel 5. This also means that the Pixel 5 also comes out with a 1080p panel, as QHD + is on for the first time a flagship Google phone. Although pixel peepers will be irritated, it is actually the best displayed to date on a Google smartphone.

For the first time on an Android device, you actually get uniform edges on all sides. It’s amazing to think it took so long, but it’s one of the best quality of life additions to the Pixel 5 series. This small OLED is also a solid panel – sure it is not the best, but the 90Hz refresh rate, color accuracy and the daily experience are absolutely excellent.

The brightness of the screen may do with a small bump on the next iteration, but it is bright enough to be readable and usable in all but burning sunlight conditions. The viewing angles are excellent, which means that the expansion of the Pixel 5 in different places also has no problems. It’s just an excellent screen that feels as good as it looks, thanks to the dynamic 90Hz refresh rate.

Performance levels

Those who question the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset instead of the Snapdragon 865 fall in love with it. Make no mistake, this is a step down from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 of the Pixel 4, but unless you’re a power user, this might not be a big deal. Clearly, some question marks remain over long-term performance levels, but as a reference, the Pixel 3a is still good after almost two years. We bet the Pixel 5 will perform much better thanks to 8 GB of RAM.

However, we will not offend your intelligence if you plan to play 3D games at the highest frame rate or if you want to deliver tons of 4K videos from your smartphone. Definitely go out of your budget and grab a device with a better disk drive if you simply need to be able to do those things. However, if you do not do much more than text, call, browse, stream video and do general tasks, you will be more than happy.

Performance levels should also not really disappoint, as Pixel Experience is relatively light, and while not exactly feature-rich, it works well on even older, comparable internals. Over time, you may notice some decline, but not to the detriment of the Pixel 5, as long as your overall expectations remain relative.

Smaller form factor

Despite the packaging in a 6-inch panel, the Pixel 5 is almost unexpectedly smaller than you might have realized. The small, uniform edge on all sides and the use of a punch hole display card means that, while you have a decent workable area, the chassis is more compact than you were probably used to.

To put this in perspective, the screen on the Pixel 5 is actually larger than that of the Pixel 2 XL – all while shaving a substantial frame size. Clap a case, and it still feels much smaller and softer than the competition. It’s easy to see the appeal of a smartphone in style, but a refined, smaller piece of technology will always be an excellent alternative.

The soft curves help it hide in your hand, no matter how big your numbers are. For those – like me – with big hands, it is extremely useful with one hand. This is something that is missing from many of the supposed Android devices, and it is one of the more enjoyable aspects of the Pixel 5.

Durable construction

Yes, the Pixel 5 can withstand your expectations of what ‘durable’ means in 2021. Glass breakfast designs are probably not going anywhere as it may scream ‘premium’, but the Pixel 5 has a unique make-up and finish that may prove to be more durable in the long run.

The sliding of a glass rear panel and an aluminum unibody have a ‘comfortable’ bio-resin finish. It feels just like soft plastic, but plastic or polycarbonate should never be considered negative unless done badly – and it’s done well here. It’s quite gripping, which would mean that drops are not a problem, although I dropped the Pixel 5 without a case, and it is unharmed, except for a few very small bits. Larger drops move or chop rather than break and break, which is a big bonus.

I do not like to baby the Pixel 5, and a big bonus here is that the bio-resin layer helps the IP68 water and dust resistance of the aluminum frame. Some people have complained about problems with the gaps between the screen composition and the corners of their Pixel 5, but it is not widespread four months after release.

Battery life

After years of what we would be fair to call ‘mediocre’ bezel length, the Pixel 5 has a large internal cell of 4,000 mAh. Often the expectation with a Pixel was that the battery life would be ‘inconsistent’ ahead of time. Fortunately, with the Pixel 5 you can actually live up to expectations.

It’s not the longest smartphone out there, but it should survive even a few days of use. The slightly lower resolution FHD + panel helps ensure that the lifespan is not sacrificed to provide just a few extra screen pixels. Unless you’re stuck with your device screen for more than eight hours a day, the latest Pixel can sit there with a little headroom.

Do I still need to pick up or consider the Google Pixel 5?

In our full review of the Pixel 5, we said that Google, by lowering many preconceived expectations, “managed to offer both a package that makes sense at the suggested price point.” This is still true about four months later.

If you appreciate the latest specs but soft software updates, or the highest resolution screens, and enough cameras to cover almost every focal point worth using on a smartphone, then look elsewhere. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is such an alternative, but the Pixel 5 offers all the fun, flavor and cameras you probably need at $ 699 from numerous retailers, including Amazon, B&H Photo, Best Buy, Verizon and more.
