5 lesser known Alabama players generating a buzz this spring

The Bryce Youngs, Will Andersons and Christopher Allens of the world were not the only ones buzzing in Alabama this spring during rehearsals and investigations.

Here are five lesser known Crimson Tide players who were also one of those buzzing this spring (listed alphabetically):

Sophomore outside linebacker Chris Braswell

Let’s play a game. Do you remember who was in the yard class at national level last year as the number 1 defensive point on the weak side? You should. It was the aforementioned Anderson, who started this season as one of the leading defensive players in the SEC. But do you remember who at number 2 was just behind him? Maybe not. It was Braswell, who did not play at all in 2020, but this spring some of the skills and staggering abilities helped make him one of the top 20 overall players in the 2020 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite rankings. make. The Baltimore product ended the spring with three bags during the Crimson Tide’s spring game while working against the first-team offense, including a strip bag that yielded a defensive attack.

First-year recipient Agiye Hall

During the 2021 recruitment cycle, Alabama signed four of the top ten wide receivers in the country according to the 247 ranking of the lineup, including three already on campus for the Crimson Tide. These include Hall, which started the fastest among the first-year recipient group. The 6-foot-3 Florida product sometimes stood out during the spring and was then one of the stars of the Tide’s spring game while working on the second-team offense. He finishes with four catches, 72 yards and a few highlights worthy.

Redshirt junior vaskop Cameron Latu

The one-time outside linebacker did what he did on Saturday during each of the two previous spring investigations – coming into the final zone. After Latu jointly passed three times in those first two games, Latu got a 59-yard catch on a pass from Young during the second quarter of the spring game. The development of Latu makes the Tide feel good about its one-two at the end, with the combination of Latu and high upside junior Jahleel Billingsley.

Senior Back Jaylen Moody

For three years, Moody has made a contribution and contribution to special teams. Now, Moody – a late addition to the 2018 class for signing the team – gets the chance to be an appetizer and ends the spring as the leader in the competition for the start of the lineout alongside Christian Harris. During Alabama’s spring game, South Carolina gave birth to seven tackles, one tackle for a loss and a difficult recovery for an offense. This came after the former three-star recruits suffered at least one pack of blows for a loss during a dominant performance of the first-team defense in the tide on 11 April.

Sophomore running back Roydell Williams

While Williams was only a fourth fast-track last season, the Hueytown product impressed enough behind the scenes that a source from Alabama at one point issued a big compliment last year – that Williams turned to former Crimson Tide star Josh Jacobs recalled. A high compliment? Yes. But Williams impressed further through the course of the spring as he quietly built a case for playing time in what will be an intense competition to run back. As Brian Robinson was unavailable for the spring game, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound Williams was the frontrunner with the attack on the first team. He was responsible for 108 shots, including 65 yards on four catches.
