LastPass puts users in a free level between a rock and a difficult place. Beginning March 2021, users of free levels must choose to use their free level on mobile or computers. This is not the best situation to be in, but neither is it the worst situation. Apart from forcing a single platform, all the features of LastPass remain the same.

The restriction actually matches it with most other password managers. So the playing field opened up for a lot of people. Here are the best alternatives to LastPass for Android.

Export your passwords from LastPass to another password manager

This is a small tutorial to avoid the hassle of re-entering your passwords in a new password manager. LastPass can export you well into a generic CSV file and most other password managers can import such a file. The process is a bit tedious depending on the password manager you choose, but you can save your CSV file anywhere and import it at your convenience. Here’s how to get your passwords out of LastPass.

  1. Go to this web address from this desktop. Log in to your LastPass account.
  2. Press the Advanced options option on the left side of the page.
  3. Tap on the Export option. Enter your username and master password if requested.
  4. A browser window will open with all your LastPass data.
  5. Copy and paste it into a Notepad file (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac OS). Save the file.
  6. Navigate to the file and change the file extension to CSV. It converts the file to a CSV file.

It’s a little annoying, but from there you should be able to import this CSV file into almost any password manager and get all your stuff back without entering the passwords one by one. If you do not want to bother, you can keep the notepad file and do it manually if you want.

aWallet Password Manager

Price: Free / $ 3.99

aWallet is a simple, effective password manager. It has all the great basic features including auto-fill, various organizational features and encryption to keep your data safe and private. You can enter passwords, credit cards, banking information and more. The free version is pretty good and contains almost all the applications without paying anything. The premium version adds access to biometric security and it’s a single purchase of $ 3.99 in the app instead of a subscription. This is a great option for people who want a password manager on their phone so they can keep using LastPass on their computer.

Bitwarden

Price: Free

Bitwarden is an excellent free password manager. It features truly diverse platform support, so it can replace LastPass anywhere, not just on your phone. It contains all the basics including encryption, support for different types of information, a password generator and 2-step verification. Of course, the app also works with autofill. The password generator is configurable based on what you need, and it also includes support for biometric unlocking. Honestly, this is probably your best general option for free LastPass alternatives and the one we recommend first.

Google Password Manager

Price: Free

Google Password Manager is the easiest solution to replace LastPass. Google can store your passwords and you can use them again on your desktop through Google Chrome. This method is built right into Android and is available by default on all Google Android phones (any phone with the Google Play Store). It’s easy to use, configurable in your phone’s settings menu and works in Google Chrome on your computer. It’s not quite as powerful as Bitwarden or LastPass, but it definitely works if you no longer want to deal with programs at all and it has better platform support than most.

Enable Password Manager

Price: Free / $ 23.99 – $ 47.99 per year / $ 79.99 once

Enpass is a pretty decent LastPass alternative for free users. You only get a handful of passwords in the free version, but these are easily synced between your computer and phone. This is a great option for people who do not need unlimited password storage or have relatively few passwords. Otherwise, it has all the good things like auto-fill support, privacy encoding and support for various types of data. It actually worked pretty well in our testing. The only problem is the limited password storage (25 passwords in the free version). The good news is that you can pay out $ 80 and pay for the premium version a single time without further subscriptions. This one is also available for free via Google Play Pass if you sign up for it.

NordPass

Price: Free / $ 4.99 per month

NordPass is actually a pretty decent free LastPass alternative. The free version allows for use, synchronization and unlimited storage of passwords on different platforms. The only caveat is that you cannot log in to multiple platforms at once. So if you log in to your computer, you will need to log back in to your phone when you use it later. It’s a little funky, but at least you do not have to choose. NordPass is a bit newer than most, but it contains all the things you would expect. This includes auto-fill, encryption and support for things like credit cards. It’s just there at Bitwarden in terms of options, but we like Bitwarden just a little bit better.

Bonus: Samsung Pass

Price: Free

This is not a very popular option, but anyone with a Samsung phone has a built-in password manager, apart from Google Password Manager. It connects to your Samsung account so that it can sync with any Samsung device and is fairly easy to use. This is not an excellent platform solution, but you can use Samsung Pass on your phone and then use your LastPass free level on your computer. It’s not the strongest option and that’s why it’s a bonus on this list, but it’s free and built in for Samsung devices, so it’s worth thinking about.
