Welcome to the 367th edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here’s the big news of the past week:
- Google Fit adds new tools to measure heart rate and breathing rate. Both new features use the cameras on your device to measure it so that it is not 100% accurate. However, it is not too far and it is definitely better than nothing. The new tools will only be extended to Pixel users for the app next month. Click on the link to see how the respiratory rate works.
- DC Universe officially closed all support for movie and TV streaming this week. We knew it was coming from last fall, so here’s no surprise. It also completed its rebranding effort. The app still works, but now only gets its large collection of comics.
- Google Play Music will remove user data from February 24th. Until then, previous users have time to download their data, or they will lose it forever. The app has already warned users, but here’s another warning if you’ve not seen it yet. It should complete the shutdown of Google Play Music and complete the transition to YouTube Music for better or worse.
- Walmart officially unveiled its Walmart Plus plan this week. The plan competes with Amazon Prime in the online digital shopping space. Some of the benefits include free delivery of groceries on the same day, free delivery of other goods on the same day (where available), access to Scan & Go functions and fuel discounts at connected filling stations. Click the link or go here to find out more.
- Google boasts an Apple-like app transparency feature. The feature will increase privacy by limiting the amount of data Android apps collect and share. It will not be as loud as Apple’s, so it will not be as private. However, it will help a lot to improve the privacy of users if they do.
Kitty Brief
Price: Free / $ 0.99 – $ 2.99 Kitty Letter is a word game where players scrape words apart. It plays a lot like similar games in the genre, but it feels much more polished and much less free to play than they do. With the game you can swing between letters to delete a word. Words that do not contract send an army of letters to your opponent who must respond in kind, otherwise they lose. You can play one-on-one games with friends or strangers. Some other features include a single player campaign as well as unlockable cosmetics. The game is completely free to play. The in-app purchases are for cosmetic items only.
Daily clock
Price: Free Daylight Clock is a free tool that allows you to see sunrise and sunset in your area. It changes daily with the new sunrise and sunset times. You can also compare your area with other areas, and there is a quick reference widget. The app also has support for civil twilight, nautical twilight and astronomical twilight. There are a variety of applications for such an app, mostly for photographers and people who want to make sure they do well before going outside. It’s also completely free with no in-app purchases or ads.

Titan Quest: Legendary Edition
Price: $ 19.99 Titan Quest: Legendary Edition is a reissue of the popular RPG. It was originally launched in 2006, but a mobile port was introduced a few years ago. This version contains all the DLCs and technical updates. You literally get the complete gaming experience for one price. For the unknown, the game is an action-RPG game similar to games like Diablo II or Baldur’s Gate. The campaign and DLCS represent a lot of content, so you’ll have to play this one for a long, long time. Some players have reported some minor issues with the touch controls and a bug where the game starts you off from a saving if you reduce it and come back. It’s a little expensive, but you get a lot of games for the price.
Niagara Launcher
Price: Free / $ 0.99 – $ 14.99 Niagara Launcher was actually launched last April. However, it finally released beta last week and the full, stable release is out. The launcher strives for a minimal style like most launcher programs. Your app load is displayed as a list, while your home screen is only a list of shortcuts for apps that you use consistently. Here and there some design thrives to make things look good, but overall there are not many customization options. The official launch also provided support for things like icon packages, something the beta has not had for a long time. In any case, it is now available on Google Play.

Kill the Spire
Price: $ 9.99 Slaly the Spire is the latest game released by Humble Bundle. It’s a hybrid between a roguelike game and a card game. Players make a pack of cards, meet bad guys and try to climb the tower. Each attempt offers you new cards and hopefully you get a little closer each time. The tower itself generates randomly for each run, so you get a new experience every time. The game was originally launched on Steam in 2019, but the mobile port was only recently launched here. According to other players, there are some flaws, but these are otherwise pretty good.
