Deshaun Watson’s reported unhappiness with the Houston Texans adds a bit of intrigue to the 49ers’ quarterback situation in the off-season. Although there were no reports of the Texans offering the 25-year-old quarterback in a trade, Watson also made no public trade demands, the conversation about his possible move took over the conversation about San Francisco’s off-season.
Legendary 49ers WR Jerry Rice joined ‘The Morning Roast’ on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco on Monday and talked about a possible quest for Watson for the 49ers.
“It all starts with the quarterback,” Rice said. ‘If the quarter can not stay healthy, we have problems. As Deshaun Watson, when he’s out there and he’s unhappy in Houston, I think we should consider it. ”
Asked how much he would be willing to give up in a trading scenario, Rice, who played alongside a Hall of Fame full-back in San Francisco, stressed the importance of the position.

It’s hard to argue with any of Rice’s points. The NFL is such a quarterback-driven league now that finding the franchise signal caller no. 1 for each team. The right player in that position can cover many warts that may appear if less talent occupies it.
If Watson is available in a trade, Rice is correct, San Francisco must do everything in its power to bring him to Santa Clara.
