According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the San Francisco 49ers restructured the contract of downtown Weston Richburg, creating $ 6.875 million in salary cap space. Rapoport adds that the veteran appointor is likely to retire.

According to OverTheCap.com, the 49ers offer the 49ers nearly $ 32 million in salary capability. Of course, this does not break with the $ 10.1 million two-year deal recently agreed by Cornerman Emmanuel Moseley, as the structure of the contract is not yet known.

San Francisco initially signed Richburg on March 14, 2018 for a five-year, $ 47.5 million contract, and he started 15 games in his first season with the team. The center suffered a torn tendon during Week 14 of the 2019 season, ended up on an injured reserve and missed the final series of the 49ers’ Super Bowl run.

Richburg started the 2020 season on the reserve list / physical non-executive list and did not appear in a match. He has had several surgeries since the injury. In addition to the knee surgery, he underwent shoulder surgery, which is attributed to his setback in 2020. He recently underwent hip surgery.

This is the second time the 49ers have restructured Richburg’s contract to create a salary cap space. The team did this previously in December 2019.
