49ers choose Alabama WR DeVonta Smith under mockery

Another offensive game creator is not very high on the 49ers’ priority list in this year’s NFL draft, but there is a growing chance that the most prolific wide receiver in the country from last season on the overall no. Instead of abandoning Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith to swap back or strive for a player in a more urgent position of distress, the 49ers in the NFL Wire’s most recent scam create Smith and perhaps give themselves the best group of passers in the NFL.

At first glance, this does not make much sense, as Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are the two best receivers, but both had injuries last year and the retirement of Kendrick Bourne as a free agency has a vacancy on the third wide recipient place left. Smith can do anything Bourne could do in the 49ers attack and then some.

Here is Doug Farrar, who wrote the mockery:

If you want to find statistics that outline his versatility and perfect fit in any offense, he finished first in the NCAA last season in deep reception and yards, and first in screen receptions and screen yards. Wherever he’s on the field, Smith will find a way to smoke your defense.

Smith also fills in the traditional score. In 2019, he posted 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns on 68 catches. He followed that up with 117 receptions, 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns en route to a Heisman Trophy victory last year.

He influences games in so many ways that it will be hard to beat San Francisco because he has the best player available. They will have to work hard later in the draft to meet other needs, but Smith will undoubtedly give the 49ers one of the NFL’s most productive group of playmakers.
