SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah increased by 447 on Saturday, with one death and 31,000 more vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.
According to the health department, the current average number of seven-day positive cases per day is now at 406. The positive test rate per day for the period reported using the ‘people-on-people’ method is now 6.8%. The positive test rate per day of seven days, calculated using the ‘test over test’ method, is now 3.4%.
There are now 132 COVID-19 patients currently being admitted to Utah, including 44 in intensive care, according to state data. About 65.4% of all hospital beds for intensive care units in Utah are occupied as of Saturday, including about 69.3% of the ICU beds in the 16 referral hospitals in the state, according to the Department of Health. About 52.8% of the non-ICU hospital beds in Utah are now occupied.
A total of 1,481,363 doses of vaccines were administered in the state, compared to 1,450,263 on Friday.
The only death reported Saturday was a man in Utah County between the ages of 65-84. He died at the hospital.
Saturday’s total gives 386,997 confirmed cases to Utah, with 15,593 total hospitalizations and 2,132 total deaths due to the disease.
