358 more COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths, 30K vaccinations reported in Utah on Tuesday

SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah increased by 358 on Tuesday, with two more deaths and 30,001 vaccinations, according to the Utah Department of Health.

According to the health department, the average number of positive cases of seven days at 406 is now. The positive test rate per day for the period calculated using the “people on people” method is now 7.7%. The positive test rate per day for the period calculated using the “test over test” method is now 3.8%.

There are 124 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 59 in intensive care. About 64% of all beds for intensive care units in Utah are now occupied, including about 67% of the ICU beds in the state’s 16 reference beds, according to the Department of Health. About 48% of non-ICU hospital beds are now occupied, state data shows.

A total of 1,738,003 doses of vaccines were administered in the state, compared to 1,708,002 on Monday. A total of 1,120,254 Utahns have now received at least one vaccine dose, while 699,517 are now considered fully vaccinated. A total of 1,956,010 doses of vaccine have been sent to Utah so far.

The new numbers point to a 0.09% increase in positive cases since Monday. Of the 2,455,549 people so far tested for COVID-19 in Utah, 15.9% tested positive for the disease. The number of tests started since the pandemic in Utah is now 4,395,138, an increase of 15,222 since Monday. Of these, 5,683 were tests of people who had not previously been tested for COVID-19.

The two deaths reported Tuesday were a woman in Salt Lake County, aged between 45 and 64, when she was hospitalized, and a woman from Carbon County, who was between 65 and 84 years old. and who was not admitted to the hospital when she died.

The total Tuesday total gives Utah 390,647 total confirmed cases, with 15,804 total hospitalizations and 2,161 total deaths due to the disease.

Health officials announced Tuesday that Utah will suspend the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after federal regulators said six cases of blood clots were reported in women who received the vaccine. No blood clots associated with the Johnson & Johnson product have been reported in Utah.
