BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County reports that 308 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been lost in the country.
This number is cumulative from the first vaccination in the country. It also contains vials that were broken during transport or during administration.
According to the DOH, the number also contains bottles that have been thawed but that cannot be used within the recommended time frame.

“These doses were not wasted by the health department but by community partners,” a DOH spokesman said in a statement. “We continue to work with all partners to ensure no additional doses are wasted.”
This is because Palm Beach County is currently undergoing a state audit after more than 1,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were damaged last week. Government Ron DeSantis said health officials wanted to inquire after receiving reports of doses being spoiled because they were stored incorrectly.
Following the announcement of the audit, News 6 reached every DOH office in Central Florida on the number of doses, if any, that had gone to waste. Brevard County was the first to respond.
This story will be updated as more provinces respond to News 6’s queries.
