$ 300 COVID-19 Unemployment Payments Slowly Makes Up for Michigan Residents

The struggle to collect unemployment benefits continues for many Michigan residents, but government officials said the $ 300 COVID-19 bonus coming soon.

This is money that many people are waiting for, and collecting from the unemployment insurance agency has been a frustrating challenge.

The $ 300 that many Michiganders owe is part of the $ 900 billion stimulus package. State officials said money is slower on its way to Michigan.

UIA officials acknowledge that there have been problems with the release of funds.

“These workers need to be assured that they will not miss out on any benefits and will receive every dollar they are entitled to once the programs are fully implemented,” a UIA spokesman said.

According to the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunities, the state started issuing the payments to about 365,000 plaintiffs over the weekend.

The unemployment benefits against pandemic run from December 27, 2020 to March 13, 2021. They offer an additional $ 300 per week benefit to Michigan claimants negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Claims do not have to act to receive the additional payments. They are paid automatically after they are certified.

“The UIA team has worked tirelessly to ensure that Michigan is one of the first states to implement the PUC program,” said Acting UIA Director Liza Estlund Olson. “Now that we’ve received additional USDOL guidance, we remain committed to implementing the remaining federal PUA and PEUC programs as quickly as possible to get money out the door.”
