According to several reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers plan to replace former offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner by promoting inside. As expected, the Steelers plan to promote quarterback Matt Canada, rather than interview outside candidates. Canada joined the coaching staff in 2020 after being the head coach at Maryland.
Here are three things we expect from Canada’s transgression
Various formations

One thing known to Canada whether it’s as an offensive coordinator or head coach is its tendency to use multiple formations, even for the same play. Canda likes to use shifts and movement to create mismatches and force the defense to make adjustments.

Let’s Not Spoil Us If Ben Roethlisberger returns in 2021, the Steelers will not be spreading the pro-style that Canada offered in Maryland. Not everything about the plan fits Roethlisberger’s style, and Canada had a year to understand it. He is not going to try to force Roethlisberger to do things that he is not comfortable with at this stage of his career.
More Anthony McFarland Jr.

If the Steelers do not sign James Conner again, you should not be shocked if Canada does not quickly track down McFarland to the starting lineup because of their relationship and McFarland’s experience in this offense. McFarland is the one home threat of the team among the backs, and if the assumption that the offensive gets a major overhaul this offseason, it could flourish.
