As an organization, the Golden State Warriors are in a difficult position financially. Without Klay Thompson, this team looks completely different and they struggled early in the NBA season to establish their identity and who can perform alongside Stephen Curry.
With not much of the off-season to adapt to a new system with new players, these types of learning curves are expected for Golden State, and although guys like Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kent Bazemore are all high level players, taking time to get used to playing with a whole new team in a whole different system.
Think of it as putting someone behind the wheel of a car if they have never driven one before and expecting them to pass their driver’s test. Of course, these guys are professional basketball players and they need to be able to play at a high level no matter what, but every team does things differently, especially in defense and in transition.
In time, this Warriors team will definitely be a solid overall team and they will have to battle for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but they will have to figure things out quickly, otherwise they could fall too far behind in a full conference.
Draymond Green is expected to be back soon and with rookie James Wiseman expected to receive more minutes now that Marquese Chriss is out indefinitely with a broken leg, the Warriors will definitely look to get the rookie more involved.
As it currently stands, the Golden State Warriors are $ 65.2 million higher than the salary cap and $ 41.7 million over the tax cut, meaning they have little or no room in the trading market unless they have a lesser or equal contract received than they give. on.
