3 Covid-19 vaccine options, 1,900 appointments open today at 12 noon in Onondaga County

Syracuse, NY – Three more Covid-19 vaccine enrollment opportunities will be available online this afternoon – including about 1,900 more vaccine appointments on Friday and Sunday.

Most of these options are specifically for the elderly. All are exclusive to Onondaga County residents.

Here’s what you need to know about the three options:

900 vaccines at the Onondaga County Friday Clinic

Who qualifies: Anyone who may currently receive the vaccine, regardless of their age. But this clinic is mostly for teachers, government workers and other frontline employees who now qualify for the opportunity. Some appointments are available for the elderly.

How to enter: Onondaga County CEO Ryan McMahon said Wednesday the appointment site will be open at 12:00 p.m. He expects them to be filled within 30 minutes.

When does it open? Afternoon, Thursday 28 January.

Phone option? The province is discussing some appointments for seniors calling 211.

993 vaccines Sunday in the Oncenter

Who qualifies? Anyone 65 or older living in Onondaga County.

How to enter: These appointments are made on the Kinney Drugs website. Go to their vaccination page and click on New York to begin the process.

When does it open? Afternoon, Thursday 28 January.

Phone option: Not at the moment. Kinney officials are urging people not to call local pharmacies. This is not how to get an appointment.

10,000 slots on ONList, the waiting list for the elderly

Who qualifies? Anyone 65 or older living in Onondaga County.

How to enter: The country will add the login link to its website later today. Find it here and here.

This online registration is much simpler than making an online appointment. Seniors will fill out a form with their name, date of birth and contact information. This puts you on a waiting list for the vaccine. The county and Kinney Drugs will randomly select from this list from next week. The appointments will be made week by week, depending on the vaccine supply.

When does it open? Afternoon, Thursday 28 January.

Phone option: Not at the moment. Onondaga County is working with Syracuse University to set up a telephone bank. Students will assist seniors with their online registrations. It has not opened today.
