2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV debuts with its broad bid for March madness

When we first learned about the GMC Hummer EV pickup, we knew that an SUV would eventually appear on the scene. GMC started teasing the electric SUV some time ago, and now the day is officially here. Hello to the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, which fuses the same cool technology and performance of the truck with nothing less than the old school Hummer H2 nostalgia.

We will answer the first question you are likely to ask. Yes, the sports utility vehicle has the same three-engine electric layout as the pickup, with a cheaper two-engine version also available later. However, you will not feel the same stroke as the pickup, as GMC estimates the three-engine Hummer EV SUV with up to 830 horsepower (619 kilowatts). It is smaller than the 746 kW (1000 hp) truck, but the torque is still called 15,592 Newton-meters.

Of course it’s torque at the wheels, while typical measurements are made to the engine. Since the Hummer has multiple motors in place of a single internal combustion engine, some gray area is understood in measurement survey. For a more apple-to-apple comparison, the torque count should have an axis of about 1,356 Nm (1000 lb-ft). This puts the Hummer sport utility vehicle on par with the heavy diesel pickups, which are still impressive for any application.

Speaking of which, you’ll find the same five-passenger interior layout for the SUV as you get in the truck. The rear section is obviously new and contains a fitted full-size component along with a substantial load space. In terms of features, you can see Enhanced Super Cruise, the bonkers four-wheeled Crabwalk mode, Extract mode and the explosive Watts To Freedom launch mode. In Hummers with three cars, it will take a time of 0-60 of 3.5 seconds if you move around in the streets. GMC says off the beaten path, the Hummer SUV should have the best entry and exit angles, not to mention a 35.4-foot turning circle on models with 4 Wheel Steer.

Buyers looking for maximum bling want the Edition 1 model, which comes standard with 22-inch wheels and adjustments. However, it is also available with the Extreme Off-Road package that swaps the big wheels for 18 inches, wrapped in aggressive 35-inch tires. The package further enhances the Hummer off-road driving with a front-facing eLocker and virtual rear boxes, heavy half-shafts, undercameras and for the protection of vital areas, sliders and sliding plates. If that’s not enough, GMC will have more than 200 accessories available at launch.

Regardless of the finish, GM’s Ultium platform with 800v capability will be at the bottom, except for the entry-level model that uses a 400v system. The range ranges from 250 plus miles for the basic decoration to 300 plus for the others. Adding the Extreme Off-Road package reduces the distance to 280 kilometers, but GMC would like to remind us that these are all preliminary estimates. And with almost two years to go before the Hummer SUV goes on sale, there’s definitely time to change things up.

At the front, the Hummer SUV follows a hierarchy similar to the pickup. The Edition 1 lands first and arrives in early 2023 with a starting price of $ 105,595, or $ 110,595 with the Extreme Off-Road package. Both the Hummer EV 3X and 2X follow in the spring of 2023; the three-engine 3X starts at $ 99,995 with the 625-hp (466 kW) twin-engine 2X starting at $ 89,995. Finally, the twin-engine EV2 arrives at $ 79,995 in the spring of 2024.
