2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric sport utility vehicle debuts at $ 59,990 with a show car type

Nothing to see here.

Cadillac has unveiled the production version of its upcoming electric Lyriq, and it’s almost identical to the draft version that appeared in GM’s Will Ferrell-led Super Bowl ad, which promotes the carmaker’s electric car pressure.

The major changes to the edgy, LED light-laden four-door are the transition from ultra-slim to more conventional side mirrors, five seats instead of four, a reconfigured center console with a second front holder and wheels that reduce from 24 inches to a choice of 20 or 22 inches.

“The goal I gave my team was to design the Lyriq with the detail that they would be a show car. The customer should feel that he will be driving in the future,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of design of Cadillac, said.

The Lyriq’s illuminated black crystal grille is not used for cooling, but is a panel with the many sensors needed for the various automatic safety systems and available practical Super Cruise highway driving system.

The mid-size SUV is almost as long as the three-row Cadillac XT6 or Tesla Model X and about the same size as the two-wheel-drive electric Audi e-tron.

Cadillac says the Lyriq on the rear-wheel drive has a 340-hp engine, weighs a hefty £ 5,610 pounds and offers more than 300 miles per charge, with a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack. A more powerful four-wheel drive version will be added later, but Cadillac has not yet said when it will be.

The Cadillac Lyriq can be recharged within 30 minutes with 195 miles of electricity.

The Lyriq has 190 kW of charging capacity that can charge the battery within ten minutes at a DC fast charging station and 195 miles in half an hour with 12 km of electricity. A 19.2 kW AC charging module is offered that is good for 52 miles within an hour and faster than any electric car on sale today can achieve.

The interior design is largely conventional, except for a 33-inch OLED screen that incorporates the instrument cluster and touch screen interface of the infotainment system.

The Lyriq starts at $ 59,990 when the Tennessee model goes on sale in early 2022, compared to $ 66,995 for the Audi e-tron and $ 91,190 Tesla Model X.
