2022 Genesis G70 arrives in America this spring with a carpet launch

Genesis introduced the face-lit G70 months ago, but the company is tight-lipped about the US specification model.

This is starting to change as the carmaker quietly launches a booking configurator, revealing a variety of details about the upcoming sedan.

The entry-level G70 has a familiar turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and is equipped with LED four-lights and 18-inch alloy wheels. Buyers also find heated, front seats with a 12-way power adjustment on the driver’s side. Other goodies include an 8-inch LCD screen in the instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.

A variety of driver assistance systems are standard, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, highway driving assistance, lane-keeping assistance and lane-following assistance. There is also blind-spot collision avoidance assistance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assistance and safe exit warning.

Buyers looking for more luxury can upgrade to the 2.0’s Prestige finish, which adds a sunroof and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. The model is also equipped with leather seats, a wireless smartphone charger, a tilt / telescopic steering wheel and an aluminum finish. The highlights are captured by rain-sensing windshield wipers, parking distance warning and a 15-speaker Lexicon sound system.

G70s, which differ from the 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, are slightly different, as they come standard with a sport-tuned suspension, butter brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels. The basic twin-turbo variant also features plenty of 2.0 Prestige content, including leather seats and aluminum trim.

One step above is the G70 3.3T Sport Advanced with a dark chrome grille, a variable exhaust system and unique 19-inch alloy wheels. The model has, among other things, ventilated front seats, alloy pedals and special finishes.

The G70 3.3T Sport Prestige, which slides with the Nappa leather seats, a microfiber suede forehead and a heated steering wheel, is on the rink. The model also boasts a Brembo brake system, a limited slip range and an adjustable suspension.

Last but not least, Genesis will offer a Launch Edition based on the G70 3.3T Sport Prestige. It features a matte finish of Verbier White or Melbourne Gray, as well as 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels. The special edition also has an exclusive Obsidian Black and Sevilla Red interior.

Full details will be announced in the coming weeks, but Car & Driver says the Launch Edition is limited to 500 units.
