2021 Ram 1500 TRX attached to dyno, puts out 583 hp on the rear wheels

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX boasts a factory-listed 702 hp and 650 lb of torque, but it’s as measured on the crutch, not the wheels. Hennessey Performance Engineering tried to measure how much power the TRX was delivering on the wheels by attaching one to a dyno, but only ran numbers for the rear wheels.

The dyno test showed 538 hp and 570 lb of torque to the rear wheels. This represents about 17% of the propulsion loss, which is not used for a pickup. Hennessey previously recorded 20% of the propulsion loss at the rear wheels when he tested a 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor.

The TRX is full-time with four-wheel drive, so you may be wondering how Hennessey only achieved Dyno results for the rear wheels. John Hennessey, founder of the company, tells Motor Authority that four-wheel drive has been temporarily eliminated by disengaging the front drive shaft.

While the TRX is designed for off-road driving, the truck with its 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 accelerates the truck fairly quickly on the sidewalk. Ram says it will do 0-60 mph within 4.5 seconds.

This was inevitably not enough for Hennessey. The company has developed more powerful versions of every Hellcat-powered vehicle, and it does the same with the TRX. Hennessey, called the Mammoth 1000, claims that the TRX will boast 1000 hp, do 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and run the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds.

To achieve these numbers, Hennessey plans to equip the Mammoth 1000 with an upgraded charger, pulley and air intake, stainless steel headers, high-flow exhaust pipes (while retaining the catalytic converter) and new mapping of engines. The price for the full truck is $ 135,350, and Hennessey plans to build just 200 this year.
