2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S sets fastest sedan record in Atlanta

In terms of shooting records, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S is one of the cars that made headlines last year. Outside of the dubious record time of the Jaguar XE Project 8, the four-door Porsche grabbed the luxury record of the luxury class at the Nurburgring.

But it was short-lived, with the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S grabbing the title as the fastest luxury sedan at the ‘Ring’. Again, except for the record of Jaguar XE Project 8, achieved without the rear seats.

Porsche then set its sights on its home in North America and local track: the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. It was a success, with the German market achieving the fastest four-door sedan title, with the Panamera Turbo S’s lap of 1 minute and 31.51 seconds.

It is noteworthy that the Panamera Turbo S dethroned another four-door Porsche sedan at the 2.54-mile race track. The record was previously held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which completed the lap in 1 minute and 33.88 seconds.

Behind the wheel of the Panamera record time, PCNA recruited professional racer Leh Keen, who last year was also the same driver behind the success of the Taycan.

The 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is expected to arrive at US dealers in the spring of 2021. This will be standard with performance-oriented equipment such as Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV +), rear-wheel drive, and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport Stabilization System (PDCC Sport).

The record reports here come with the optional and legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ND0 ultra-high performance tires. The set was a newly developed sample, on the front 275/35 ZR 21 103Y XL and 325/30 ZR 21 108Y XL on the back.
