The No. 1-seeded Bears make their first Final Four appearance since the tournament expanded and for the first time since 1950. The No. 2-seeded Cougars make their first appearance since the Phi Slama Jama era more than three decades ago.
Baylor is the slightest favorite here after a historic season that will be the best in program history regardless of the finish. It enters the game 26-2 after scoring two-figure victories in each of its tournament games. Of the 26 wins this season, 21 have a margin greater than double figures.
Houston, however, is no Cinderella. Now, 28-3, the Cougs have only lost twice in the calendar year 2021. And since losing a loss to the AAC champion in the regular season, Wichita State, on February 18, they have lost 11 match won.
