2021 MacBook Pro ransom leak shows no Touch Bar, details on I / O layout

We continue to learn more about what Apple has in store for the 2021. MacBook Pro update. As we explained earlier, a hacker group called REvil is currently blackmailing Apple retailer Quanta. The group has released detailed documents showcasing the 2021 MacBook Pro logic board, including details and images of new ports.

Images from the MacBook are mockups based on the documents by Parker Ortolani of 9to5Mac.

Reports from both Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier indicated that the new MacBook Pro models would add additional ports. These documents refer to the code names “J314” and “J316”, which Bloomberg previously reported the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with Apple Silicon inside.

To the right, the documents show an HDMI port, a USB-C port, and an SD card slot. On the left, the documents indicate that there will be a MagSafe connection, two USB-C ports and a headphone connection. This means in particular that there will be one less USB-C port on the 2021 MacBook Pro than on the current model.

The documents also show that the 2021 MacBook Pro without a touchbar, which in turn was previously reported by sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo. There’s still a Touch ID button to the right of the feature, similar to the current MacBook Air.

It is also important to remember the source of this leak. This is a sensitive topic, and 9to5Mac publish only details on what is readily available. The documents do not contain any product images of any kind, and there is nothing to note about the form factor changes that lie ahead in the 2021 MacBook Pro. The documents are intended to show technical details about the Mac, rather than design details.

So far, only a handful of files have been released, but REvil threatens to release more in the coming days. The documents contain detailed schemes of the 2021 iMac that Apple announced yesterday, as well as the 2020 MacBook Air.
