2021 Hollywood Critics Association Award Winners

“Promising Young Woman” awarded the night at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards. In addition to being awarded the top prize, HCA awards Carey Mulligan for her performance as revenge-driven Cassie and director Emerald Fennell for her screenplay.

Other winners included Delroy Lindo for Best Actor in ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and Yuh-Jung Youn who won Best Supporting Actress for ‘Minari’.

“Although 2020 was a year of many problems for many people around the world, we are forever grateful to the filmmakers, storytellers and studios who went to great lengths to find new ways to present their films to the public. be, “said Scott Menzel, founder of HCA.

Following the Golden Globe Awards, “Nomadland” won awards for best cinematography and best female director. Other highlights included Delroy Lindo winning Best Actor for ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and ‘Class Action Park’ and ‘All In: The Fight for Democracy’, which was the best documentary.

“Although cinemas were closed for most of the year, 2020 was in many ways a groundbreaking year for film,” said Ashley Menzel, co-chair, on the variety of nominees. “We look forward to seeing more inclusivity on screen, hopefully not just in award-winning films, but in films in general.”

The fourth annual ceremony was broadcast tonight on the HCA Facebook page and YouTube channel. The organization’s mission since its inception in 2016 has been to lift underrepresented voices in the industry.

“The films nominated by members of the Hollywood Critics Association were one of the most diverse and inclusive stories we’ve seen on screen in some time,” Menzel noted. “Our mission has always been to highlight all the votes, and I believe that tonight reflects in our winners.”
