185 new COVID-19 cases, nearly 5K more vaccinations reported in Utah on Monday

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s COVID-19 cases increased Monday to 185, with no new deaths and nearly 5,000 more vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The new numbers were the result of another 2,519 COVID-19 tests performed. According to the Department of Health, the current average number of seven-day positive cases per day is now at 398. This figure has remained between 396.3 and 406.3 new cases per day since April.

The positive test figure per day for the period calculated using the “people on people” method is now 7.4% following Monday’s update of figures. The positive test rate per day for the period calculated using the ‘test over test’ method is now 3.7%.

There are currently 122 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Utah, according to state data. Of these, 61 were hospitalized in intensive care units.

A total of 1,708,002 doses of vaccine were administered in the state, compared to 1,703,065 on Sunday.

The new numbers indicate less than a 1% increase in positive cases since Sunday. Of the more people tested so far for COVID-19 in Utah, about 1.6% tested positive for COVID-19.

The total Monday’s total consequences are 390,289 confirmed cases in Utah, with 15,770 total hospitalizations and 2,159 total deaths due to the disease since March 2020.

The Utah government’s Spencer Cox plans to deliver a COVID-19 update during its monthly news conference with PBS Utah on Thursday at 10 p.m.

This week’s free COVID-19 test sites

Earlier Monday, the state health department announced several locations where free tests for COVID-19 would be held in the state. The Department of Health selects test sites based on higher positivity rates, fewer tests, untreated wastewater and other coronavirus surveillance data.

The department this week announced websites in nine provinces where the test will be done by TestUtah or the mobile testing team of the Utah Department of Health / Utah National Guard. People can pre-register here for TestUtah sites or the Utah Department of Health / Utah National Guard here.
