18 new deaths related to COVID-19 in North Dakota are active cases

The new deaths and active cases have been reported since Thursday due to the New Year’s holiday.

The deceased, 11 women and seven men, ranged in age from 60 to 90 and were from 12 different counties: Barnes, Burleigh, Cass, Nelson, Morton, Pembina, Ramsey, Ransom, Rolette, Ward, Wells and Williams.

The state also reported 127 new COVID-19 cases out of yesterday’s total. Fargo’s Cass County reported 43 new cases, while Bismarck’s Burleigh County reported 15 new cases. Both Mandan’s Morton County and Minot’s Ward County have filed ten new cases.

Ramsey County, Devils Lake, added seven new cases. Rolette County, Stark County and Williams County each count five new cases.

Four or fewer new cases have been reported in the counties of Barnes, Benson, Dickey, Dunn, Eddy, Grand Forks, Griggs, LaMoure, McKenzie, McLean, Mercer, Ransom, Richland, Stutsman, Traill, and Walsh.

The department said the new positive cases emerged from 4,845 tests for a daily positivity rate of 2.91%.

Active cases remained below 2,000, with 1,999 Saturday in North Dakota. This is the eighth consecutive day that less than 2,000 active cases have taken place, a period that has not been seen in the state since the end of August.

Cass County had the largest number of active cases on Saturday with 428, although the figure dropped 19% last week. This is the sixth consecutive week in which the most populous province in the state has a decline in active cases.

Burleigh County added 269 active cases on Saturday, while Grand Forks County reported 128, both of which fell slightly from last week.

Ward County’s 163 active cases indicate a slight increase from last Saturday’s total.

The only other country with three-digit active business on Saturday was Jamestown’s Stutsman County, which posted 111 active businesses.

Williston’s Williams County reported a 36% drop in active cases last week, dropping from 121 to 78. Active cases dropped 20% from 112 to 90 in Morton County last week.

Rural Dickey County, in the southeast corner of North Dakota, led the state with 70 active cases per 10,000 residents, although only Saturday had a total of 34 active cases.

Two rural provinces in the western part of the state, Divide and Oliver, did not report any active cases on Saturday.

Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 19,663,976 COVID-19 cases and 341,199 deaths attributed to the virus.
