Google Assistant has been around since 2016, so you’ve undoubtedly picked up many tricks that Google’s voice-activated helper is capable of, from alarms and timers to calculations and definitions. But the number of skills the Google Assistant has is increasing all the time, and there are some that you have not encountered so far.
As always, you must put “hey Google” or “OK Google” before each of these commands. Let’s dive in now.
1. Take screenshots
A simple ‘take a screenshot’ will take a screenshot of your Android device, but you can not yet use it on the other devices that are compatible with Google Assistant.
2. Play podcasts
Like every other company out there, Google is eager for podcasts. YYou can say “play the latest episode of …” followed by the name of the podcast to start listening.

3. Dig into your photos
If Google Photos is open on a Pixel phone, you can tell Google Assistant: ‘show me photos of …’ ‘a place and follow it up with’ those at … ‘and a specific beacon. The example Google gives is ‘show me New York photos’ and then ‘the photos in Central Park’, so you can customize the commands to suit your own journey and the collection of photos.
4. Follow your exercise
Wear OS may not be the most popular smartwatch platform in the world, but it does include strict Google Assistant integration. You can use commands like ‘track my run’ and ‘bike start’ to start recording your exercise without touching your watch.
5. Watch some TV
You can tell Google Assistant about specific movies, programs, or types of videos on Netflix or YouTube. Just say “play …” and then what you want to watch and on which app. It works with Android TVs and Chromecasts, as well as on Android phones and tablets.
6. Find your phone
This one works with smart speakers and smart screens with Google Assistant on board. Say “find my phone” and your phone will start ringing, even if it’s silent – as long as it’s an Android phone signed in to the same Google Account as your speaker or screen.
7. Manage your programs
Google Assistant can interact with numerous applications on Android, including Mint, Instagram, Outlook, Discord, and Spotify. YYou can use commands like ‘search candles on Etsy’ or ‘send money in Venmo’ to save on-screen taps. Use the command “show me shortcuts” to see all available programs based on the installed programs.
8. Read articles on the web
If you use Google Chrome on Android, you can say ‘read it’ to the Google Assistant with an open web page, and then the text of the page will be returned to you.
9. Take a fixed photo
Make sure you get the perfect picture on Android phones every time by saying ‘take a picture in five seconds ”or“ take a selfie within ten seconds,” adjust the countdown as needed.
10. Remember where you sit well
Google Assistant’s long memory may be a privacy mare, but it can help you keep track of where everything is. Tell the assistant to ‘remember that my spare keys are in the archive’ and when you later ask ‘where are my spare keys?’ you will get the right answer. You can choose to have the assistant remember other pieces of information, such as your friend’s favorite cake or your safe number.
11. Hear animal sounds
You may be surprised at how much educational content is packed into Google Assistant for kids. Try asking, ‘What sounds like an elephant? ‘For example, choose another animal (the Assistant can pick animals for you if needed).
12. Still wind off
You probably know that Google Assistant can play music and set timers, but you realize you can combine the two – for example, when you fall asleep. Just tell Google Assistant, ‘Stop the music in … ”and select your period to start the timer.
13. Broadcast to multiple speakers simultaneously
If you have a bunch of Google Nest speakers and displays in the house, you can broadcast a message to everyone at once – just say “broadcast” and then your message.
14. Flip a coin or roll a dice
A classic Google search engine trick has been passed on to Google Assistant – asking to flip a coin or roll a dice – and the assistant compels it with nice animation on certain devices.
15. Create and edit lists
Another way to use Google Assistant’s powers to revoke it is to have it managed. For example, if you have a shopping list, you could say: ‘Aeggs to my shopping list ”and then hear everything at once with a, ‘What on my shopping list? ”Voice assignment.
16. Delete voice recordings
You can record the voice recordings that Google Assistant has reported through you Google Account Page on the web, but you can also do it through the Assistant yourself with assignments such as, ‘Ddelete the last thing I said to you,“Or, ‘Delete everything I told you last week.”
17. Mute your phone
This one is exclusive to recent Pixel phones, but is useful: you can tell Google Assistant to enable “Do Not Disturb” to apply the silent mode with the current default settings.
