15-year-old arrested for fatal shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX – Phoenix police say a 15-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in July 2020.

According to police, the incident happened around 11:45 p.m. near 19th and Southern Avenues. When police arrived on the scene, they found that 19-year-old Carlos Garcia had been shot dead.

During their investigation, police say they gathered enough information through forensic evidence and witness statements to arrest 15-year-old Kevontay Myers.

Police believe Garcia did not intend to shoot. It is unclear if there were any motives in the shooting.

Myers is charged as an adult and is facing possible charges of first-degree murder, shooting and misconduct involving weapons.
