1,378 new cases, 25 COVID-19-related deaths confirmed

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Judge Nelson Wolff of Bexar District notified the community on Wednesday night of the local reaction to COVID-19.

Nirenberg reported 138,785 total COVID-19 cases and 1,895 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 1378 new cases as of Tuesday. Nirenberg also confirmed 25 deaths related to the virus.

Nirenberg asked for a moment of silence to honor those who died of the virus.

The seven-day moving average is at 1,688, a slight decrease compared to Tuesday.

City officials also reported that 1,411 patients were admitted to the hospital, 393 in the intensive care unit and 237 in ventilators. There are 12% of the beds with crew available and 51% of the fans.

With the high hospitalizations, officials expect more of this virus to die as the pandemic rages.

There have been 168 surveys related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, Nirenberg said.

Nirenberg also said the small business administration has now started accepting applications for PPP loans. Visit the SBA website for more information.
