13 players from Portland Trail Blazers receive the first dose of Modern COVID-19 vaccine

Update: The Blazers issued a correction saying 13 players received the vaccine instead of 12.

Thirteen players from the Portland Trail Blazers received their first dose of Modner COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, the team announced.

The players were able to get the vaccine at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, which had an excess amount of vaccine and began offering it to the general public in February.

“The Trail Blazers organization and players are grateful to the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde for making these vaccines available to the general public,” the team said in a statement.

The Blazers encouraged supporters to get the vaccine, saying they would continue to use their platform to raise awareness about vaccination.

“Our organization and players are encouraging everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccine,” the team said. ‘As vaccination efforts continue to grow, we will continue to use our platform through public service (PSA) announcements and other messages to make us aware of the safety, effectiveness and importance of vaccination, so that our state and communities are out of this horrific pandemic can come. as soon as possible.”

The big man, Jusuf Nurkic, tweeted that he received the vaccine today.

Portland is one of three NBA teams announcing vaccinations. Fourteen players from the Atlanta Hawks were vaccinated last week, and dozens of members eligible for the New Orleans Pelicans organization received their first dose on March 13th.
