12 memorable statistics from the Packers’ historic 2020 season

The Green Bay Packers have just completed one of the most impressive regular seasons in the long history of the franchise.

Matt LaFleur’s team finished 13-3 and secured the No. 1 spot in the conference, the offense reaching an NFL high of 509 points and 66 touchdowns, both the second most in franchise history, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers will likely win his third MVP. award.

Here are all the memorable stats from the Packers’ historic 2020 season:

1 More touchdown passes than points

More drifters from the Packers ended up on Aaron Rodgers delivery passes (48) than JK Scott predicted (47, including one point blocked). The Packers only became the fourth team in NFL history to have more hits than points in a single season. The 47 points were the least in a single season in team history.

2 More goals from Davante Adams than Mason Crosby goal kicks

More packers from the Packers ended up hitting Davante Adams (18) than Mason Crosby field goals (16). Surprisingly, Adams actually scored more overall points (108) than Crosby (107), a true rarity for a team with a healthy and capable kicker for 16 games. Adams’ 18 rounds capture the team record and are third all-time, while Crosby has made 16 of his field goal attempts.

3 Red zone dominance

The Packers caught on 48 of 60 turns in the red zone, or what the team calls the ‘golden zone’. The offense had an 80 percent conversion rate within the 20-yard line, five percentage points better than the second-best team in the NFL (Tennessee Titans, 75.0 percent). According to the team, the Packers’ tackle percentage in the red zone was the highest in the NFL during the past 40 seasons.

4 All the touchdowns

Eighthman Aaron Rodgers set new team records with 48 passes and 51 total touchdowns. His 48 shots hit Dan Marino for the fifth most of all time. Rodgers has never passed more than four times in a single game, but he has passed four times in two games, the third most in NFL history.

5 Consistent excellence

According to the team, Aaron Rodgers set new NFL records for games with a pass rate of at least 100.0 (14), games with at least three touchdowns and a pass rate of at least 100.0 (12), and games with at least three touchdowns pass and no intercept (10). The beauty in Rodgers’ season was the consistency of play at the elite level.

6 30 or more

The Packers scored 30 or more points in 12 different games. Matt LaFleur’s team actually had just as many games with 40 or more points (four) as games with less than 30 (four). Only once was the Packers kept below 20 points.

7 11 different touch catchers

Eleven different players received passes from Aaron Rodgers in 2020: Davante Adams (18), Robert Tonyan (11), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (6), Allen Lazard (3), Marcedes Lewis (3), Aaron Jones (2), Jamaal Williams (1), Equanimeous St. Brown (1), Malik Taylor (1), Jace Sternberger (1) and Dominique Dafney (1).

8 Leader Completion Percentage

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers finishes as the leader of the NFL in completion percentage. He completed 70.7 percent of his passes, just ahead of Drew Brees (70.5) and Deshaun Watson (70.2). Rodgers completed just 62.0 percent of his passes in 2019, and his previous career high was 68.3. He completed ten games with a completion rate of 70.0 or better.

9 Tonyan touchdowns

Robert Tonyan has only pitched ten times during the 2019 season. He got eleven strokes in 2020, playing the most under the NFL’s tight end and tying the team record.

10 Deep threat

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had some untimely declines, but he also led all qualified NFL players in yards per catch at 20.9. His 33 catches reached 620 yards. He equaled for the NFL highlight with six catches of 40 or more yards, and his six touchdowns averaged 43.7 yards per catch.

11 One and two

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers now holds the two best rankings in a single season in NFL history. He finished at 121.5 in 2020, just one point below his NFL record of 122.5, set in 2011.

12 Jaire Island

A pro bowler, the first corner of the court, Jaire Alexander, allowed only 4.8 yards per attempt to throw in his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. He only passed twice, breaking 13 other passes and committing just one penalty.
