Eleven Sixers appear on the NBA’s injury report posted Friday night at 8:30 p.m.
For reasons unrelated to COVID-19 are Furkan Korkmaz (left adductor tension), Mike Scott (left knee contusion) and Terrance Ferguson (personal reasons).
More importantly, seven players are listed as questionable due to health and safety protocols. A source told NBC Sports Philadelphia shortly after the injury report was released that the team is awaiting the COVID-19 test results and contact detection.
The dubious players are:
- Joel Embiid
- Danny Green
- Tobias Harris
- Skud Milton
- Vincent Poirier
- Paul Reed
- Matisse Thybulle
Seth Curry becomes unavailable due to health and safety protocols. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that the Sixers have learned that Curry tested positive for COVID-19 during their loss to the Nets. Curry was featured on the TNT broadcast during the first quarter, wearing a mask.
Wojnarowski reported shortly before midnight Friday that the players placed in the health and safety protocols were in close contact with Curry, and that the Sixers were “awaiting the league’s evaluation of the circumstances surrounding the seven players’ individual affairs.” NBA teams must have at least eight players available to play a game.
The Sixers returned to Philadelphia by bus late Friday night, ESPN reported.
Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, The Athletic se Shams Charania reported that a member of the Sixers training staff tested positive for COVID-19, which led to additional contact detection within the team.
