Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported one new coronavirus-related death and 66 coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 449 deaths and 28,145 cases since the onset of the pandemic.
No further information was immediately available about the latest death on Oahu.
The state’s official death toll includes 357 deaths on Oahu, 53 on the island of Hawaii, 35 on Maui, one on Kauai and three Hawaii residents who died outside the state.
The U.S. coronavirus-related death toll today was more than 531,000 and the nationwide infection is more than 29 million.
According to health officials, there are 30 new infection cases in the East today, 20 on Maui, 15 on Hawaii and one on Molokai. As a result of updated information, state health officials removed two Oahu cases from the charges.
The statistics released today reflect the new infection cases reported to the department on Wednesday.

The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the onset of the outbreak is 22,230 on Oahu, 2,403 on Maui, 2,317 in Hawaii, 186 on Kauai, 108 on Lanai and 28 on Molokai. There are also 873 residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed outside the state.
Health officials also said today that 689 cases of the state’s total infection count are considered active. Officials say they view infections reported over the past 14 days as a ‘proxy number for active cases’. The number of active cases in the state increased by 24 today.
Per island, Oahu has 351 active cases, Maui 254, the Big Island 80, Kauai three and Molokai one. Lanai has no active business.
Health officials counted 5,741 new COVID-19 test results in today’s score, for a 1.15% positive percentage nationwide. According to the Hawaii COVID-19 Data Dashboard, the average average positivity rate of 1.2 days is 1.2%.
Of all the confirmed cases of Hawaii infection, 1,922 required hospitalizations, of which eight new hospitalizations were reported today by state health officials.
Eight hospitalizations in the census are residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed and treated outside the state. Of the 1,914 hospitalizations in the state, 1,648 were on Oahu, 151 on Maui, 101 on the Big Island, eight on Kauai, five on Lanai and one on Molokai.
According to the latest information from the department’s COVID-19 Data dashboard, a total of 27 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals as of Thursday morning, with four in intensive care units and four in ventilators.
The state’s Hawaii COVID-19 vaccine summary said today that 447,917 vaccines have been administered out of the 572,230 that the state has received. About 19% of the general population in Hawaii has received at least one dose of the vaccine. Of those who have received at least one dose of vaccine so far, 51% are 59 years or younger, while 49% are 60 years or older.
Of the vaccines administered, 423,628 were given to the general public and 24,289 were distributed via the federal pharmacy program, officials said.
Oahu moved to the less restrictive Level 3 of the city’s four-level economic recovery plan on Feb. 25 after being in Level 2 since Oct. 22. Level 3 allows for social and outdoor recreational gatherings of up to ten people, and can seat restaurants. 10 people at the table, versus five people. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi on Thursday announced amendments to Tier 3, including that bars could reopen under the same conditions as restaurants and the evening clock be extended until midnight.
The current seven-day case score for Oahu is 26 and the seven-day average positivity rate is 1.0%, according to Blangiardi.
