1 killed in shooting at mall near Appleton

UPDATE (WKOW) – Investigators say one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting at a mall near Appleton on Sunday.

Authorities said the victim who survived had minor injuries.

Officers spoke to several witnesses who witnessed the shooting, but they are still asking others with information about the incident to call 920-832-1575.

Authorities say they are following up on clues to try to track down the shooter now. They did not disclose any information about the suspect.

GRAND CHUTE (WKOW) – Police said two people were shot dead in the Fox River Mall on Sunday afternoon.

WBAY-TV reports that Grand Chute police were called after a shooting at the shopping center at 15:30

According to officials, details of the two victims could not be released at this time.

Authorities did not identify a suspect or a motive.

According to police, the shooter left the mall.

Emergency teams are working to make sure all customers and employees have evacuated the building.

Group cars from various agencies surrounded the building and police did not let anyone into the mall.

A witness told WBAY: ‘We were at GNC, and then I saw people running and sounding like hammers and nails. We jumped in the back room and sat down. It all happened pretty quickly. Did people panic? You know, you have to do something, but you can not. ‘

Police planned another briefing for Sunday around 7 p.m.

According to the sheriff of Outagamie County, members of the community are being asked to stay away from the mall if they can for the time being.
