1 in 2 people shot outside Lehigh Valley were killed. Walmart is dead

A woman who was one of two people shot dead outside a Walmart in Lehigh Valley on Friday night succumbed to her wounds, authorities announced Saturday.

Investigators did not immediately reveal the identity of the woman, pending notice of her family. They also did not indicate that anyone was in custody.

She died Friday at 7:40 p.m. in Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Salisbury township, from a gunshot wound or wounds to the body, Lehigh County coroner Eric Minnich said in a news release. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Minnich said he had decided the manner in which manslaughter was killed.

Police were called to the scene at about 5:55 p.m. . Township Police Chief Michael Marks.

Officials who responded found the woman and the second victim who were shot near a vehicle parked in the premises while the engine was running, the release said. The second victim was still receiving medical treatment on Saturday.

“Through the investigation, initial reports of a child abduction were later unfounded,” the release reads.

The release did not describe anyone wanted in the investigation, which is being pursued by Martin’s office and Whitehall police, along with the coroner and Lehigh County task force.
