0.01% of vaccinated Israelis get coronavirus

A public health care provider in Israel says 0.01 percent of people who received two doses of coronavirus vaccine tested positive for the virus.

Maccabi Healthcare Services is in charge of a program that develops the vaccine developed by Pfizer and its partner BioNTech. On Monday, it announced the preliminary results of a survey of 128,600 people who received two doses.

According to Maccabi, 20 of the recipients were infected with the virus a week after receiving the second shots.

According to Maccabi, all 20 symptoms such as cough and headache have developed, but no one has been admitted to hospital.

It adds that ten of them have underlying conditions.

Maccabi says the data is preliminary but very encouraging.

Israel is the world leader in carrying out rapid vaccinations. By Tuesday, 2.7 million people, or more than 30 percent of the country’s population, had received their first shots, and about 1.4 million had received second shots.

Israel has reported that more than 600,000 of its 9 million people are infected with the virus. The country’s third exclusion is in effect until the end of this month.

On December 19, Israel began vaccinating health workers and people aged 60 and over. The government plans to complete vaccinations for everyone aged 16 and older by March.
