Xiaomi Mi 11 has a Snapdragon 888 chip, 108 megapixel camera

As promised a week ago, Xiaomi on Monday launched the world’s first smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip – the Xiaomi Mi 11.

The phone was announced at an event in China – sorry folks, the worldwide launch is yet to come – and will be available in China on January 1st.

Aside from the latest and greatest Qualcomm mobile processor, the Mi 11 is a typical Xiaomi flagship with some very powerful features that will leave you wondering why you ever considered buying a more expensive flagship phone, but also with some compromises to keep the price down.

The Mi 11 has a 6.81-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has an impressive triple rear camera with a 108-megapixel main sensor, an ultra-wide 13-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel telephoto sensor. The camera is capable of making 8K video recordings at 30 fps. At the front is a 20-megapixel shooter in a small hole in the center center of the screen.

Xiaomi Mi 11 can come with a leather back, or there is a special version with textured glass.

The phone has 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB memory. It has a 4,600mAh battery with 55 W fast charger, 50 W wireless charging and 10 W wireless charging. Other interesting features include dual Harman Kardon brand stereo speakers, AI-enhanced video recording mode for very dark environments, and a fairly wide color choice, which includes black, white and blue, as well as an optional khaki leather back or smoking press.

One thing that is missing – besides an official waterproof – is the Pro version of the phone. This year, instead of launching several variants of its flagship, Xiaomi is launching only one, the Mi 11. Luckily, this one looks very powerful and will be a good test for how good the new Snapdragon chip is.

Xiaomi Mi 11 starts at 3,999 yuan ($ 612) in China; there is still no word on international pricing or availability.
