UK COVID ads urge people to stay home

A new coronavirus advertising campaign in the UK calls on Britons to ‘act like you have it’ and stay home while COVID cases and deaths increase in the country.

A record 68,053 infections and 1,325 deaths were recorded on Friday, with the number of daily deaths more than doubling within a week.

“COVID-19, especially the new variant, is spreading rapidly across the country,” Chris Whitty, head of the country, said on TV. “Once again, we all need to stay home.”

The serious warnings come because a new, highly contagious variant of the coronavirus was discovered in the country last month.

Posters in the government’s grim campaign to curb infection rates show how a nurse treats a patient with a coronavirus and the warning: ‘act like you have it.’
