The refusal of IDP to be vaccinated is detrimental to efforts to lift restrictions

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that Republicans who want to lift COVID-19 restrictions but do not want to be vaccinated “make no sense.”

‘It is almost paradoxical that on the one hand they want to be relieved of the restrictions, but on the other hand they do not want to be vaccinated. It just makes almost no sense, ‘Fauci said on CNN’s’ State of the Union’.

The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said he was frustrated by a poll which showed that 43 percent of GOP voters still do not want the chance.

“It’s quite frustrating, because the fact that one might not want to be vaccinated, in this case of an alarmingly large portion of Republicans, actually works just against where they want to be,” he said.

Fauci noted that many Republicans seem “very concerned” about restrictions on public health.

‘We share the concern, but the way to get rid of these restrictions is to get as many people vaccinated as quickly and as quickly as possible, because if that happens … you will see that the level of virus in the community goes up down and down. and to the point where you do not have to have the public health restrictions, ”he said.

The remarks come after Fauci and GOP Representative Jim Jordan had a heated discussion during the Congress testimony last week about reopening.
