TCL pushes 8K and ‘OD Zero’ mini LED technology for its 2021 TVs

TCL’s impressive LCDs have been one of our favorite TVs for the past few years, so how does it get better for 2021? Due to the promise of last year’s CES event, all new entries in its midrange Series 6 series will feature 8K resolution that is four times sharper than 4K. While you are unlikely to see much native 8K content on the sets, they are willing to upgrade to lower content content. If you prefer to stick with 4K, the company says its existing 6-series TV will remain available.

The latest version of the 6 Series LCD features the second generation of the TCL’s mini-LED backlight technology, and now LG and Samsung are selling TVs with similar technology. To keep up with the package, TCL is introducing its third generation mini-LED backlight, called OD Zero. The name is Zero because the distance between the backlight layer and the LCD panel has been reduced to 0mm, which would make an even thinner display.
