If you were disappointed not to find a PlayStation 5 console under your Christmas tree, it might not be too late to get Sony’s new machine connected to your TV before the year is out.
Target has made a very limited number of PS5 Digital Edition units available. The rush is that you have to buy the console at a specific store and pick it up in person. Spiel Times, which reported for the first time that Target will take over the PS5 again between Sunday and Tuesday, said that while some stores will get 10 to 15 units, others will get nothing.
As of 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 29, all the stores we checked – the area of New York, Raleigh, NC, Atlanta, Omaha and Orange County – were sold out. PS5 stock is only available per store, so it’s worth checking out your local branch.
Please note that users on Twitter on Tuesday, December 29 uploading video of the local Target trailers from both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Other users on Reddit report inventory in the Bay Area and Minneapolis area for Xbox Series X units. This may indicate that the lack of systems may end, as stores can handle demand better now that the holiday shopping season is over.

As for the standard PS5, it was apparently not a part of the current stock, but keeping an eye on this availability could change at any moment – just as the PS5 Digital Edition did.

How can you stand a better chance in what could probably be the last PS5 grab of 2020? Well, the first thing to note is that Target reloads usually take place between 03:00 and 07:00 ET, but Spiel Times notes that the two-hour window occurred between 05:00 and 07:00 when previous PS5 reloads have occurred.
Obviously, you need to be logged in ahead of time, because you will need to move quickly when you see stock, and make sure your credit card and delivery details are filled out ahead of time. (So if you are not setting up a Target account, now is the time to sign up). Anecdotally, some Target PS5 buyers were happier by using the in-store app instead of relying on the website. Things were pretty quiet on the PS5 stock during the Christmas season, with no new consoles appearing in the usual places. Of course, if this report turns out to be correct and Target gets additional units, it is possible that other traders will follow their example.
