Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim says off-season can include ‘dramatic staff changes’.

Syracuse, NY – Jim Boeheim, men’s coach for men in Syracuse, said he thinks the off-season could be a big transition for the Orange program and beyond.

During his weekly coaching performance with Matt Park on TK-99 on Thursday, Boeheim referred to the possibility that both Quincy Guerrier and Alan Griffin could explore their professional basketball options, while the NCAA’s potential weakening of transfer exemptions could cause programs across the country to depart unexpectedly. to handle.

“I do not know what is going to happen,” Boeheim said. ‘This off-season, I think, will be one of the most dramatic changes of guard and staffing in our history and in the history of basketball. I think there can be several guys leaving virtually any program, and you’re not going to have any idea. In the past, when you were a little unhappy, which is a lot of guys, not enough shots or whatever, you never thought about transferring because you did not want to sit out. Now I can move here and get a lot more shots. ”

Boeheim said he believes center Bourama Sidibe wants to return to Syracuse next year, provided he is healthy and confident he can play a full season. Sidibe recently told Syracuse.com he feels this would be a good plan.

“I think Bourama has already made his decision,” Boeheim said. ‘I think he would like to come back. He does not want to get through such a year again. We do more research on his knee, even more testing. He indicated that he would do if he was healthy. ‘

Boeheim said Marek Dolezaj did not intend to return when the season started, although they have not discussed his decision lately and he could always change his mind. Dolezaj recently told Syracuse.com that he does not think about it now.

Boeheim also referred to the professional pursuit of Quincy Guerrier and Alan Griffin, two players who have been open about their future hopes, but it looks like they have not put together seasons that would make them instantly strong NBA draft candidates.

Yet college players have not stopped in the past few years from pursuing professional dreams.

“(We’re going to) see the status of what Quincy wants to do in terms of going to the league, trying and taking the road,” Boeheim said. “Alan Griffin, if he wanted to practice in the NBA, go to the NBA, those are all options.”

Boeheim also said he was not sure what to expect with transfers. Syracuse usually lose a player or two every season due to exhaustion. He said he expects Orange to carry over this off-season as well.

The off-season is expected to result in far more transfers than usual if the NCAA passes legislation that allows athletes to switch once without putting off a season. The organization is currently facing great pressure on how much control schools can exercise over players while upholding their amateur rules.

“Guys who do not play much can easily decide to look for another place,” Boeheim said. “There can be a lot of movement. We do have good young players who I think will be back. We have a good recruiter to come in. We will definitely be looking at the transfer area. Everything is going on until we get another month or two and we see what decisions guys want to make. I think there will be a lot of things going on this summer. I think there will be movement. Quite a bit of movement. ”
