Stats Rundown: 3 numbers from the Mavericks 105-89 victory over the Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 105-89 on Wednesday night in Dallas to win the season series 2-1. This match felt like a playoff match from the start and was one of those Luka Doncic performances that left you head over heels in surprise time and time again. Here are some numbers from the game:

42: The number of points scored by Luka Doncic.

Luka was absolutely spectacular and finished with 42 points (6-of-11 from three) and nine assistants. It was Luka’s fourth 40-point game this season, tied for second place behind Joel Embiid and Dame Lillard (both by five). What’s also crazy about Luka’s 40-point performances is that he also has 9 plus assists per Mavs PR in each one.

Luka was simply on one one tonight and smiling through the highs and lows, and it was a joy to watch.

Plus-29: Luke is plus-minus

Luka Doncic was plus-29 in a 16-point victory in 42 minutes of play. The narrow part of this is that in the five minutes that Luka sat the Mavs were minus-13, but we’ll talk about that another time.

Luka told the media after the match. ‘The last two games were like play-offs. We played hard, and so we have to be ready for the playoffs if we make it. ”

42 minute games may not happen every night for Luka, but if your All-NBA star plays like he was tonight, you play him as much as possible.

12: The number of wins for the Mavericks in the last 16 games.

The Mavericks are making progress after their rough start to the season. They have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the NBA and are getting closer and closer to the standings. Dallas, despite this good run, still sits in eighth place in the Western Conference, but is only two games back from the Portland Trailblazers in sixth place, which happens to be who the Mavericks are playing their next two games. These next two matches will be a great opportunity to achieve the leaderboard. See you all Friday night.
