Second snow wave to the east

A second blizzard in six days is expected to hit East Sunday, which has plagued a region already hit by a Nor’easter that buried millions buried in blizzard-like conditions, forecasters said.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to develop from Richmond, Virginia, to Washington, DC and Philadelphia before hitting New York City and New England, adding that it will yield between 4 to 8 inches of snow, a fraction of what made by this week’s snowstorm.

“Expect dangerous travel conditions on Sunday with snow and ice on untreated roads and surfaces Monday morning,” the weather service said.

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said on Saturday that the vaccinations for Covid-19 planned for Sunday at state-owned sites in Stony Brook and Jones Beach would be postponed due to the weather.

A strong winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds and potentially dangerous conditions that could affect travel and cause power outages across Long Island, ‘Cuomo said in a statement.

He led state agencies and snow plows to prepare, adding that parts of New York City and Long Island could receive up to 9 inches of snow.

“Do not drive if it is not necessary,” the governor’s office said in the statement.

New York City’s emergency notification system, Notify NYC, has warned residents to prepare for possible power outages by keeping cell phones charged.

The National Weather Service said the storm would leave the area Monday.
