Romney was the only Republican from the Senate who voted to convict Trump in both of his accusations. In February last year, he was the only GOP senator who voted to convict Trump of the charge of abuse of power.
The vote made Romney the first U.S. senator to vote to convict a president of his own party on an indictment.
In March this year, Romney was awarded a profile courage award from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation for his ‘historic vote’ to accuse Trump in 2020.
