We’ve seen some of them astonishing sales in recent months with Pokémon cards. Back in October, retired rapper Logic spent $ 226,000 on a Charizard card and one student sold their Trading Card Game collection for $ 80,000 to pay for university. Not to be outdone, we have now seen that a rare Blastoise card earns a striking $ 360,000 dollars.
If you mark the highest amount that a single card has achieved at the auction, you can see why you realize the story behind it. It was created by Wizards of the Coast, who originally published the Pokémon TCG, and it was one of the two presentation cards used to convince Nintendo to continue a trading card game. As a result, it recommends a significantly higher value than your standard Blastoise card.
Around the same time, a separate auction for a set of TCG cards took place in the first issue, and it could be sold for an incredible $ 408k. However, there is no similar story with this rare booster, it was just sought after and unopened.
On the brighter side, those of us who have no hundred thousand dollars left can remember that The Pokémon Company is once again releasing some iconic cards as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the series. With designs from the original base set, it would be too big, but grateful not too expensive.
