Police are searching for a gunman after the man fired at his Miami-Dade home

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. Police erected a perimeter in a suburb in Southwest Miami-Dade on Monday morning after investigators say a man was shot in his own home early Monday morning.

The scene is on SW 107th Terrace, next to SW 138th Avenue. Miami-Dade County police say preliminary information indicates a man entered the home and shot the victim, who was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition.

The suspect in the shooting is still at large, police said.

A neighbor tells Local 10 News that she wakes up just after 5am to run and hear loud noises.

“Boom, boom,” she said, describing the noise. “I thought it was a transformer and the electricity was going out at any moment.”

She says she peeked outside and saw a car racing and realized the noise was something else.

“It had to be a gun. It was powerful and hard, “she said.

Several officers remained at the scene, and Miami-Dade police say the Hammocks district is continuing its investigation.
