A story floated around that 500,000 graphics cards from the GeForce RTX 30 series were discovered in a cargo container – went missing during transport, but the story was BS.
Geeknetic.es first reported the story when a Samsung affiliate of a port couple in Samsung found a bunch of boxes with NVIDIA logos somewhere in South Korea. This staff member noted that the shipment was not on any port records.
The staff themselves tried to buy a GeForce RTX 30 series graphics card, and after seeing the hundreds of boxes of NVIDIA products’just added to my frustration at not getting one“.
“The RTX 3070, 3080 and 3090 are still hard to find. A shortage benefiting from strong demand, excessively long production cycles and the global pandemic, which does not make things easier. Good news, as a South Korean port operator has just recovered a lost cargo of 500,000 GeForce RTX 3000 cards!“
As soon as the news set the Internet on fire, the author of the original piece added: “This is a fake news story published on December 28 in celebration of Holy Innocents Day in Spain. Its content is false and was created with a satirical humorous purpose. We hope you enjoyed reading“.
