Nintendo plans to sell record and console sales in the next financial year thanks to a series of new blockbuster games and a new Switch model.
This emerges from a new report by Bloomberg, which claims that the company plans to launch a new version of the Switch before the end of March 2022. This claim comes from sources from ‘component vendors, software publishers and retailers’, that Nintendo believes the launch of this new console will help keep the switch console sales flat or slightly higher than the previous year.
There are few details about the new model, other than the claim that it will feature an OLED screen, which should provide sharper images for players. This news is just the latest in a long line of Nintendo Switch Pro rumors, but with the Switch now 4 years old, it will not be a big surprise to release a new version of the console within the next 12 months do not see.
Elsewhere in the article, it is also reported that Nintendo has a “series of game releases” that they expect to help them sell more than 250 million units during the financial year. This is an increase of 45 million units over their current projection of 205 million software sales for the year.
What kind of games can push this big target? Well, in the recent Nintendo Direct, like Splatoon 3, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, and Mario Golf Super Rush were revealed, while Pokémon Direct also brought news about Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes, along with the first game from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Suffice it to say that Nintendo’s series has been looking pretty healthy for the next 12 months.
