‘MacGyver’ ends after season 5, series finale on CBS – deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Angus MacGyver is about to take on his final mission. The CBS action drama, a remake of the 1985 series, ends. MacGyversay the five-season run concludes with a series final to be hosted on Friday 30 April in the regular time lapse of 20:00.

With Lucas Till as the ingenious title character, a secret government agent with strong engineering skills, MacGyver has averaged 5.85 million viewers this season and a 0.7 adult 18-49 (current) under new showrunner Monica Macer. Since its launch on September 23, 2016, the series has had the thankless task of opening CBS’s Friday series at 8pm, giving a good start to Hawaii Five-0 / Magnum PI at 21:00 and Nobility at 22:00.

“We all at CBS are very grateful for the incredible work and dedication of Lucas and the rest of the cast, as well as Monica, the writers and the entire crew,” said Kelly Kahl, president, CBS Entertainment. “The MacGyver team traveled far and wide to save the world repeatedly with little more than bubble gum and a paper clip and made this show clearly their own. We are delighted that we can give these dedicated and loyal fans the opportunity to say goodbye to their favorite characters in the thoughtful way that this series deserves. ”

MacGyver currently playing Till, Tristin Mays, Justin Hires, Meredith Eaton, Levy Tran and Henry Ian Cusick. The original co-leader, George Eads, left in season 3 and his character was killed thereafter. He is not expected to return for the final final series.

Macer connected MacGyver last summer as executive producer / showrunner, replacing the series’ developer / executive producer / showrunner Peter Lenkov, who was let go after an investigation into allegations of a toxic environment in the show.

MacGyver joins two other long-running CBS series ending this season, drama NCIS: New Orleans and comedy Ma. Peacock is coming up MacGyver parody series, MacGruber.
